What records do you have to share with your children, grandchildren and extended family of your life? Any journals, albums or scrapbooks? I would imagine we all want to leave a legacy of what we have done with our life, or who we became during the journey. Without some kind of record, how can the stories or pictures be shared in the future?
My daughter was about to turn 3 years old when her Grandfather asked what she might like for a birthday present. It was suggested that she could use an art easel for our home. The search began, and just in time for her birthday we had the perfect easel set up in our kitchen.
It may seem too much trouble to set up creative art situations in your home for young children. Perhaps they will only paint, draw or create for a few minutes after all the time spent preparing. But that is where true artistic expression begins. I don’t think that the great artistic minds of the world painted a masterpiece when they were 3 years old, or that they were born with the attention span to finish a project. With each little art session, we help children learn some wonderful skills.
