Maternity clothes can be awkward or comfortable, user friendly or confusing, a perfect fit or sized very wrong.  It all depends on the cut, style and brand that you choose.  What maternity clothes are essential for you?  After having gone through two pregnancies, I made a list of the items that I find crucial to a comfortable and happy pregnancy wardrobe.

Let me explain:

While expecting my first child, my husband and I wanted to spend as little as possible on all the baby items that we would need to purchase. We bought carseats, strollers, high chairs, clothes, bedding, and last of all a crib. We found many of these items on great sales, or at consignment stores near our home. Of all the purchases we made, there is one that we regret… the crib.

It is hard enough to maintain a wardrobe for growing children, but we also have to buy those seasonal items as well. A few yearly essentials (depending on your location) may include a good winter coat, waterproof snow boots, beanies, gloves, rain jacket, rain boots, swimsuits, life jackets, etc. You also want these seasonal items to high enough quality to get great use!These items are outgrown just as fast as regular clothes, so how can we stay on top of these seasonal needs without braking the budget?

Begin with your Closet in Mind

Now days everywhere you turn you hear about “Going Green”. The topics include cars, food, housing, utilities, carbon footprints, sustainable energy, etc. My question to you is this: Is your Wardrobe Green?

This question may seem ridiculous at first but I have found some simple ways we all can take this step. I know that on some level each of us have more clothes in our wardrobe than we need or even know about. So here is how I went “GREEN” in my wardrobe at home!

tasi faith paint 150x150 Encouraging Creativity in ChildrenMy daughter was about to turn 3 years old when her Grandfather asked what she might like for a birthday present. It was suggested that she could use an art easel for our home. The search began, and just in time for her birthday we had the perfect easel set up in our kitchen.

It may seem too much trouble to set up creative art situations in your home for young children. Perhaps they will only paint, draw or create for a few minutes after all the time spent preparing. But that is where true artistic expression begins. I don’t think that the great artistic minds of the world painted a masterpiece when they were 3 years old, or that they were born with the attention span to finish a project. With each little art session,  we help children learn some wonderful skills.
