Top Money Saving Tips for College Students
As many say College is one of the most exciting chapters of anyone’s life. This is the time when a student starts to become independent and begin living as an adult. Just the prospect of new activities, new things to learn, and new people and would be friends to meet is enough to get any College freshman excited. But the all too exciting College life does come with a price. Apart from school fees, expensive books, and other related expense, a freshman also has to worry about a lot of other expenses during his or her life on campus.
Here are a few of the top money saving tips a College student ought to consider to save on bucks while in school.
Work On a Budget
With a new environment and new shops around to explore, it is easy to lose sight of where you should be spending your allowance on and splurge on that cute notebook, or that lovely top you can wear to your next org meeting. Create a spreadsheet of your budget, may that be for a week or a month, so you can easily see where your money should go. This will also allow you to prevent unnecessary spending knowing that you will go broke by the end of the week if you make than unplanned and unnecessary purchase.
Use Free Amenities on Campus
It will be so much easier to get rid of spending when you can simply use free facilities in the University, like a free gym or a student library for example. The money you save from not paying gym membership or getting new books can be spent or something else. Or you can always save it for emergency needs.
Cook you own meal at home
If you do not know how to prepare your own meal then it is high time you do! You can save a lot of money by preparing your food at home instead of always dining out or opting for those student meal plans, which can also be expensive. Stock up your fridge and pantries with deli meats, fresh vegetables and fruits, cheese, and a number of other staples you can easily toss together for a quick breakfast, or even a sandwich you can bring to class for lunch.
Join College Clubs for Free Events
Instead of going to bars or to the mall over the weekend to enjoy and relax, joining clubs that mostly offer free events like meet ups, or book reading, or a free show or concert is so much more economical and free! It is also a great opportunity to meet students who enjoy the same things and activities like you do.
Purchase Used Textbooks Instead of New Ones
Whether you opt for a 2 year or a 4 year degree course, you will spend a considerable sum on textbooks that it why it is a wise move to purchase them used instead of brand new. Check local bookstores for their used book section or you can easily search online for shops that offer preloved books. You can also do this with other school requirements like laboratory or sports equipment that may also cost a fortune if bought new.
Take advantage of Student Discounts
Usually any town that has a College would normally offer free or discounted services or products to students, like free bus rides, free coffee, discounted laundry rates, as well as discounts on stores and shops, so make sure you bring your student ID wherever you go and do not forget to flash it to avail of those discounted rates and freebies!

happy boy in front of christmas tree

Christmas is that time when everyone is simply being kinder than usual doling out holiday greetings to random strangers in the streets. It can be a tad tiring for some, what with all the long lines, the traffic jams and chaos everywhere, but, although it is also deem the busiest time of the year, especially for shopping malls when a seemingly endless number of people flock for their last minute Christmas shopping, it is also that time of year when majority of the people are in their most generous and are careful to only wrap the most special gifts for their office mates, colleagues, friends and loved ones.

Great Space Gifts

Great Space Gifts

Since the first successful walk on the moon in 1969, children and adults alike all over the world have been fascinated by space.  Children have played with miniature space shuttles, have pretended to fight aliens and have dreamed of becoming an astronaut themselves one day.  I don’t know if it’s the idea that you can float, or the notion that space is endless, or because it’s so mysterious, but there’s just something about space that makes you wonder.  Because I was a kid in the 80’s, I was raised knowing that we could land on the moon so it wasn’t a big deal to me.  Although that could also have something to do with the fact that I’m a girl since boys tend to fantasize about space more than girls.  Either way, no matter how many times we hear about space travel, it still catches our attention.  Do you know anyone who you would consider to be a huge space fan?

I'm Tired

I'm tired...

Wow! What an amazing experience. We at coupon buzz have been working feverishly to launch the new site. Our original goal was to launch our coupon site sometime  before Black Friday. Well, that didn’t happen. I suppose we could have launched but there would have been some key elements missing. Even now, with launch being imminent, all of the functionality won’t be there.

However, we’re pretty excited about what will be launched in a few short days. Here’s a quick list of the site features (the list will grow):
