I love hiking. I love everything about it. I love being outside, I love the smells of nature, I love feeling the crisp air, I love getting exercise, I love spending time with friends and family and I love finding great picturesque places to take pictures. There are a few things that go along with hiking that are sometimes hard to deal with, like occasional bad weather and a whiny child, but it’s still one of my favorite things to do. Growing up I didn’t hike much because my family was very large and we just didn’t have the time to do such things. We were always running in a hundred different directions at once. I did some at girls camp and with friends sometimes on the weekend, but I didn’t really get into it until I went away for college.
The older I get, the more I realize how important the little things are in life. I spend less time cleaning my
house and more time reading with and tickling my toddler. I don’t worry so much about my waistline and worry more about teaching my daughter how to be positive and enjoy the world around her. Luckily I have a husband who shares these views with me, so we do everything we can to keep our priorities in perspective and really live in the now. One of the ways we try to accomplish this it to set aside time each day when we are spending quality, focused time with each other and with our daughter. It doesn’t have to be a great deal of time as long as it is sincere.
A little over a year ago my husband started telling me about a thing called GEO caching. At the time I had never heard of it and I thought it sounded a little weird and nerdy to me. So, for all of you who have never heard of it, let me give you a brief explanation as to what it is. People will hide what they call “caches” in a park, on a hike, behind a building, in a yard or just about anywhere else. A cach is something small enough to fit in a hidden place and can be just about anything. A few of the things I’ve seen used for caches are little trinkets, movies, buttons, stickers and key chains. The person who creates the cach will use a container that contains the cach(es), a log book and pen and other necessary instructions.
I hate to say it, but it’s about time for swimsuit season. Oh, I am soo not ready. But, as it is, I have been doing some promotions for some swimsuit stores. One has really caught my eye and the name is so true. It’s called Swimsuitsforall.com. I have never seen such a wide selection of swimsuits made for all kinds of women. Petite up to plus size, and even for mastectomies. Right now they are running some great deals with many suits from 50%-70% off, and there are some additional coupon codes on couponbuzz.com as well. I love the prices of these suits, and how some even come with matching sarongs. Right now they have some one piece suits that are less than $29. Perfect for chasing the 2 year old at the pool. Why spend a ton of money on a suit that is just going to get stuck to the pool concrete, tugged on by your kids, or bleached out from daily summer trips to the pool? Anyway, if you are starting to brave the swimsuit search, might be a site to check out and then try them on in the privacy of your own home, and maybe a forgiving mirror with good lighting as opposed to the fluorescent glow in the cramped dressing room!! Good luck!
I am like most 30 year olds in saying that I used to love riding a bike when I was a child. I would ride it for hours on end, up and down the neighborhoods and to the local grocery store to buy bubble gum and pop rocks. I remember feeling like I was going so fast and that nobody could catch me. There’s so much freedom in riding a bike as a child, having no cares in the world. Then you get a little bit older and it’s not always cool to ride a bike anymore. After that you go to college, get married, have kids and forget about the bike thing until you start to buy bikes for your own children.
I didn’t do very much hiking growing up. I loved playing sports and participated in several competitive organized sports in my life, but I find the older I get the harder is is to stay active. When you’re young it’s easy to find ways to play basketball, football or tennis on a regular basis. Once you’re married with kids your days are much busier and you can’t just leave and play sports every day. You can get a gym membership and drop your kids off at the child care there while you work out, but why not involve them in the exercise.
