But, I would for sure buy one of these for my boys who love to pretend that they have a cat/dog to play with and feed/walk, etc.

I think the prices are pretty reasonable as well with some starting in the low $20 range, and then some of the bigger ones into the $40 range. But, there are deals for free shipping as well. I have just never seen this wide of a selection of such life like looking dogs before. With so many dog lovers out there, it seemed like a great item. We’re more cat people so for my kiddos, this may be as close as they get to owning a real dog.

I am totally exhausted today and it’s completely my own fault. Late last night I got back from a weekend trip with my girlfriends to the beach and I am really feeling the consequences of having very little sleep all weekend. We drove to the beach Friday night and stayed up until 5am the first night. The second night we toned it down a little and went to bed at 3am, only after we made a choreographed dance video to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” song. Ya, I got conned into putting on glitter eye liner and ratting my hair in a high 80’s style pony tail on the top of my head, followed by dancing with other 30 somethings while one lucky participant got to record the whole thing. Sound like fun? It really was fun a great weekend and I am glad I went, but I definitely can’t party like I used to.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can revert back to acting like you did when you were 14 as soon as there’s no husband or kids in sight. I think all mothers need this type of outlet to rejuvenate themselves and set aside their daily worries for just a little while. I am lucky enough to have a husband that encourages me to do such things and I like to return the favor. I think getting away from your spouse and kids on a semi-regular basis is crucial for staying sane, at least it is for me. Besides the amazing dance routine previously mentioned, we also play MASH, another great adolescent girl game, ate a ton of food, walked on the beach, watched chick flicks and talked. Playing MASH got me thinking about all the fun games we used to play as kids or teenagers. Here are a few that you might remember: Chutes & Ladders, Candyland, Operation, Sorry, Mousetrap and Hungry Hungry Hippo. Did you play any of these?

Well, I did and thinking about them helps me remember a simpler time. I recently played Candyland with my 6 year old niece and it was so much fun seeing her excitement for the game, similar to the way I felt about it at that age. The funny thing is that I think I was just as excited playing it with her because it brought back all those innocent feelings and helped me feel like a kid again. I think we all need to let go of our adult rolls sometimes and just be a kid again. So, here is what I’m encouraging you to do. Go online to a toy store and find one game that you absolutely loved as a kid, buy it and then play it with someone you love. I think you’ll be surprised by how much fun it is. I think deep down none of us really wanted to grow up, so why not revisit childhood every once in a while?
