Traditional Baskets from Ghana
In this worldwide economy, it’s hard to know where the products you buy come from. I try hard to buy products that don’t come from sweat shops or places where people are treated unfairly. Although there is one local fair trade store near my house, finding online stores that provide fair trade have proven harder. I recently found an online store that provides a great selection of artisan products from around the world.

My husband is in college. There are many things we had to get in preparation for school. A backpack, text books, and most importantly, a laptop computer. These items can really set someone back financially. Then there’s the matter of which computer to buy? We debated between a desktop computer, a laptop computer, or a tablet.
We ended up deciding to get a laptop. With the laptop, he can take notes in class then use his computer in the library while doing research. He can then bring that same computer home to finish up homework.

I was under the impression that spring had finally arrived until I looked out my window this morning and saw tons of snow falling down. Why is it that we always have one week in February with temperatures in the high 50’s and then inevitably we get freezing rain, hail or snow at the end of March? Well, regardless of what the weather is doing today, I know for a fact that April is less than 2 weeks away, which tells me it’s time for spring. This time of year I think of spring cleaning, allergies, Easter and being able to enjoy playing and eating outside once again. Fortunately, Walmart has everything I need for springtime.

Beautiful Diamond Necklaces
As I sit working on this blog, I can’t help but notice the bright sunshine flooding through my windows. As I walked to the park with my daughter yesterday, I saw daffodils and other flowers bursting through the ground, reaching towards the sun. After their long winter in the ground, they are coming out, telling the world spring is here. Birds of all kinds seem to be proclaiming the same as they chirp from their nests and spread their wings in the newly warming sun. Something about the spring weather causes us to come out of our version of hibernation and breathe in the fresh air that makes us feel alive again. With this abundant warmth and joy, comes a season of love and new relationships hoping to blossom into something wonderful.

Electronics are a fickle thing to shop for. It seems that you need to decide between the latest and greatest, or the cheaper and outdated. Whether you are looking for the latest iPad3 or Brother wireless printer, your choices really come down to price. At least that’s the way it is for me. I don’t need a website to sell me on a product. By the time I am shopping for it online, I already know what I want. I am just looking for the best price from a reputable company.

There’s a myth floating around that says you can’t be environmentally friendly and save money at the same time. I’m not sure where this idea came from, but it’s certainly not true. HP is a perfect example of this. They have spent a lot of time and energy creating two systems that work simultaneously to help you save money, and take care of the earth.

Find The Camera For You
The digital age is in full swing and it seems like every gadget we own can take pictures to be uploaded, downloaded, facebooked, emailed and sent anywhere around the world. The quality of pictures our phones can take far surpasses the quality of pictures we used to take with our most advanced cameras. We can easily take a thousand pictures with any number of mid-grade cameras and not think twice. The younger generation will never know what it’s like to load film into a camera, then take the film out and wait a week for it to get processed. It would seem all our problems are solved, but alas, now we have a new problem. With the thousands of different cameras to choose from, how can you find the right one for you?

Whenever I talk to someone about being more earth friendly, I usually hear the same phrase over and over again. It goes something like this: I’d like to help, but there’s not a lot I could do that would make much of a difference since I’m only one person. If you are one of the many who have said something like this, I want you to think again. There are billions of people in the world, and if everyone did their part, it would make HUGE difference. Apathy like this is what prevents us from taking care of our earth. I think the only way to motivate some people to re-adjust their thinking is to show them how it could be profitable to be earth friendly. JR.com has created a section on their site that includes only items that are aimed at using less energy and made from more earth friendly products.

MacBook Air
Very few companies have the ability to redefine a whole industry. It is even more rare that a company redefines every industry they make products for. Apple has done just that. More than 22 million Americans own ipods, hundreds of millions of iphones, tens of millions of ipads, and more than 64% of students use apple laptops every day. It seems you can’t go anywhere without seeing the benefit of Apple’s innovations.
