Very few companies have the ability to redefine a whole industry. It is even more rare that a company redefines every industry they make products for. Apple has done just that. More than 22 million Americans own ipods, hundreds of millions of iphones, tens of millions of ipads, and more than 64% of students use apple laptops every day. It seems you can’t go anywhere without seeing the benefit of Apple’s innovations.

It’s not uncommon to look around any college campus, coffeehouse or library and see laptops everywhere. Because they are more affordable than ever, it’s much easier to get your hands on one without breaking the bank. With this influx of laptops in the market, you may find it hard to set yours apart from the other hundreds you may see on a daily basis. Dell has decided to help you with this by creating a great way you can personalize your laptop and make it more resilient to wear and tear.

You are at Disneyland with your family. The sun is shining. The kids share an ice cream cone and are getting along great! You reach into your bag and grab the camera. Point, aim, and– nothing. You are out of film. It’s off to find the closest gift shop and buy more 35mm film. Don’t forget the AA batteries!! Although this scenario is a little out-dated, there are still things that can ruin that perfect picture moment.

I don’t know about you, but this time of year is one of my least favorite. All the my favorite holidays are over, and the weather is not very nice. You still have at least 2 more months before you can bust out your favorite shorts and sandals, and at least one more month until Spring Break. To make things worse, it’s the time of year when you have to file your taxes and figure out if you owe the state or government some money. Luckily, H&R Block has made it easy for you to do online. They’ve even made it so you can e-file your federal taxes for free.

Valentine’s Day is just one week away. Since you have found this blog, I can bet you probably haven’t already found that special gift for that special someone in your life yet. It seems to get harder and harder to find a meaningful gift for Valentine’s Day. This year I was fortunate to stumble across some helpful suggestions from Ice.com. They are a jewelry retailer that specializes in Valentine’s Day jewelry.

Like many people, I have a horrible story about a Valentine’s Day that was ruined by someone who gave me a lame gift. I was 17 years old and my boyfriend showed up with a Panda Bear dressed in a referee shirt and a candy bar that he obviously picked up at a gas station on the way over. He gave me the gift and I was so upset, I broke up with him that night. Now I am not the kind that expects diamonds or something expensive, but I do expect you to put some thought into it.

This time of year comes with a lot of great times with family and friends. Sadly this time of year tends to bring a lot of weather problems also. Anything from Blizzards, Snow Storms, Flooding, Hurricanes, Ice Storms, and Power Outages. NOW is the time to be prepared for the unexpected.

Most people like to surf the web to find out what’s going on in the world, take advantage of cool online deals or to kill time. There are a bazillion sites out there to choose from, and undoubtedly, you will find what you’re looking for. Some sites are very predictable and practical for what I need, but every once in a while I find a site that has something that pleasantly surprises me. In the past few days I’ve stumbled upon some of these and I just have to share them.

Most of us want our homes to reflect our personality. We pick things that we like and that say something about us. My husband and I tried to do this with our first home. We painted all the rooms different colors to give them personality. We also decorated with items that you couldn’t find at IKEA or Walmart. We found some stuff at garage sales, designed our own decorations or found great items online. We have the same method of thinking when it comes to giving things to other people. We want to give things that are original and have some personality or flare. When it comes to birthday parties for my five year old daughter, we make something to give as the present. Kids especially like things that are made just for them. It gives them a well needed sense of ownership they crave so much. Some people struggle to come up with ideas of what to make. If you are one of these people, I have a few websites that can help you out.

I may be a little more passionate about sustainability than the average person, but it’s on my mind a lot these days because of my husband. He is working on his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and is learning about all the ways we are destroying the world that we depend on for everything. With this new found knowledge, we find ourselves constantly on the look out for ways that we can do our part to help slow down this seemingly irreversible destruction. Many companies around the world are deciding they want to be more sustainable and are making the necessary changes to become so. I found a few of these companies that are doing great things to reduce their carbon footprint on this beautiful planet.
