Finding Your Match

miriam Sunday, June 24th, 2012

This time of year the weather is warm and the sun is out.  Each year, my husband and I look forward to this time of year to get outside and exercise.  We have always loved to hike, bike, and play at the beach.  So far we have more than a decade of summers doing these things.  I love having a partner for my active lifestyle.  It makes the activities so much more enjoyable.

Making Computers Personal Again

miriam Thursday, June 14th, 2012

When shopping for a new personal computer certain names keep popping up, names like Apple, HP, Toshiba, etc.  That’s for a reason.  They have proven themselves over decades with technological advances.  Every time a new technology has come along, these computer manufacturers have either been behind the new technology or at least adopted it very quickly.  These “bells & whistles” only get a reputation so far.  They have cemented their fan bases through reliability.

Great Father's Day Gifts

Great Father's Day Gifts

Once a year we get to think about the men in our life that have loved us, taught us, and protected us. If you’re lucky, you were raised by a father that emulated the kind of man you wanted to be, or wanted to marry some day. A good father can help create a family environment that promotes unity, love and trust. If you get married and have children, you get to experience another important father in your life. With all they do for us, it’s great to have one day to focus on them and show them our love and appreciation.

For the Love of Music

Love Your Music

When I think of music, it’s hard to know where to begin. For some people, music is not a big deal, but I wager to say that it’s very important to most people around the world, even if they don’t realize it. Some of my earliest memories involve listening to, dancing to, singing to, or playing music. My mother was very musically talented and taught all my siblings and I how to sing from a very young age. She also taught us all the play the piano, and strongly encouraged (forced) us to each play one other instrument. I chose the very unusual oboe, thanks to a recommendation from my older sister, but that is beside the point. My mom instilled in me a love of music from an very early age that remains with me still.

Creative Memories or Created Memories

photoshop1 300x204 Creative Memories or Created MemoriesSupermodels on magazine covers at the grocery store checkout line; movie stars promoting their latest movie; a real estate agent marketing a home; what do all these have in common?  They all benefit from Adobe Photoshop.  The product that has had the largest impact on visual media is arguably Adobe Photoshop.

This program allows you to erase age wrinkles, sun blemishes, change the time of day, and even add subjects to the photograph.  The feature list is incomprehensible.  The possibilities are limited to your imagination.  I remember when I first used Photoshop, roughly 10 years ago.  It was difficult to figure out.  I was very intimidated.  I knew there was so much it was capable of, but I didn’t know how to use it.  Photoshop has gone through many generations  since that time.  They have made it much more intuitive and easy to use.

The countdown has begun and summer vacation is definitely around the corner. While children can’t wait for the last day of school, many parents are concerned with finding enough things to keep their kids busy all summer. There are of course the summer camping trips, family reunions and a few trips to the beach, but what about the rest of the time? What can you do to keep them stimulated and busy?

Easy Technology Shopping

office 287x300 Easy Technology ShoppingToday I took time to sit and meditate.  I sat on a park bench amidst some beautiful flowers.  I listened to the birds singing.  It was lovely.  Well, until I snapped out of it by the ring of my cell phone.

Our lives function with the assistance of technology.  This technology is wonderful.  Computers at home, copy machines at the office, GPS in the car, and mp3 players between them all.  These instruments are great up to the point that they aren’t interrupting.

FREE Computer Help from Office Depot

miriam Wednesday, May 9th, 2012

No matter where you look these days, you’re bound to see a computer nearby. People use them at the office, they take them to school, they surf on them in coffee shops, and even use them to entertain restless children. They are simply everywhere. A good portion of our lives are stored, shared and displayed through the use of computers. With so much of our lives trapped in a small man made box with wires, a battery and some computer parts I know nothing about, it’s no wonder people are worried about losing information stored in computers, and what might happen if their computer crashes and all the information is lost forever.

Why Do You Love Your Dog?

Canine Buddies

There are currently nearly 80 million pet dogs in the United States.  Thirty nine percent of households own at least one dog.  With so many of us owning dogs, why is it so difficult to answer the question, “Why do you love your dog?”  In my case, I love their loyalty, companionship, and playfulness.  I love coming home to their wagging tails and wet kisses!  I love how they tolerate playing dress-up with my daughter.  They also great to take along on a hike or use as jogging partners.  At night, they are my watchmen.  In the morning they are my alarm clock.  They are so many different things to our family, it’s hard to imagine life without them.

Finding True Love In Cyber Space

miriam Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

online datingNot too long ago, you would pass someone in the store, see them in a restaurant or meet them in a college class and feel right away that you wanted to get to know them better. There was just something in the way they looked, or how they spoke that was intriguing to you. Slowly you would get up the courage to approach them and find some way to strike up a conversation, hoping they would find you charming or interesting. If this initial meeting went well, dates would follow and a relationship might form. For thousands of years people having been meeting this way, but not anymore.
