small flower cupcake tin Re Usable Easter Cooking TinsI’m not naturally the “homemaker” type of person.  I do like to have my house clean and I do like to cook good meals, but you’ll never find me wearing an apron, creating the perfect gift baskets for my friends or writing really cute cards for people.  I don’t do what I lovingly refer to as “froo froo” things.  I used to tease my older sister growing up about being so “froo froo” and having her room be matching shades of mauve.  I have come to terms with the fact that I do need to be a homemaker for my children but I can do it my own way, with my own style.  I love to do crafts with my daughter, but I try to find things that I can use to teach her a new skill or things that can be created by recycling something we already own.  I do a lot of cooking, but most things are made to be healthy, filling and cheap, not to necessarily look really good.

The major complication with that is that most of her friends from school, the neighborhood and her cousins are all boys. How do you have a boy Mermaid Party?

After much thought and trial and error we came up with the idea of a mermaid & pirate party. In the context of Peter Pan and a few of the films they go hand in hand. With the main theme in mind, my next great challenge was creating fun activities and decorations that might be fitting for these kids… on a TIGHT BUDGET.
