Way Cute Back Pack
Most of us want our homes to reflect our personality. We pick things that we like and that say something about us. My husband and I tried to do this with our first home. We painted all the rooms different colors to give them personality. We also decorated with items that you couldn’t find at IKEA or Walmart. We found some stuff at garage sales, designed our own decorations or found great items online. We have the same method of thinking when it comes to giving things to other people. We want to give things that are original and have some personality or flare. When it comes to birthday parties for my five year old daughter, we make something to give as the present. Kids especially like things that are made just for them. It gives them a well needed sense of ownership they crave so much. Some people struggle to come up with ideas of what to make. If you are one of these people, I have a few websites that can help you out.

If you’ve never been a full time mom, you probably can’t understand why moms that stay home with their children are often frazzled. It doesn’t seem that hard to get kids dressed, fed, taken to the park, driven to school and dragged along to the grocery store. But as any full time parent knows, it’s much harder than meets the eye. Besides the daily tantrums over what to wear, what to eat, when to take a nap and how to put your seat belt on, you have to keep the house clean, plan out meals, do the laundry, run errands, pay bills, change dirty diapers, do the dishes and still find some time to feel like you’re a human being. Anyone who doubts how hard this can be should take the opportunity to watch kids full time for a day or two to see what it’s really like. Because of the difficulty of the task that we face, parents need to come up with ways to “occupy” their kids so they can have some downtime to make the meals, switch the laundry batches, and take an occasional shower.
Parenthood, they say, is the biggest joy one can experience in this life. As a parent I agree with this, but what they fail to mention is that parenthood is a double edged sword. For every joy you experience, you will also likely face that same level of frustration, sadness or disappointment. Does this mean it’s not worth it? Of course not. Most parents will attest to the fact that the up side of having a child outweighs the down side of having a child in the big scheme of things. That being said, parents have to strategize how to minimize the bad stuff so they can enjoy the good stuff more. One constant battle is finding ways to positively motivate your child to make good choices. Like any historical battle, both sides will face victories and defeats, and each will come up with new tactics every time they face a temporary defeat. My 5 year old is now at the point where time outs or taking away toys no longer motivates her to make the choices I would like her to make. She thinks her temporary victory will last, but she is mistaken. What she doesn’t know is that I have launched a counter attack disguised as a way for her to get new toys.
My daughter just turned 5 and I have decided to teach her at home instead of sending her to public schools. This decision is based on several factors, most of which have to do with what type of beliefs I want her to have. I want her to have a broad view of the world and all that she can do to help those around her. I want her to be confident about who she is and not worry about being popular or fitting in with a crowd. I want her to trust her parents and really value her family relationships. Because these are things that I desire for my daughter, I am constantly on the look out for anything that can help achieve these goals, like good books to read, clean movies to watch and modest clothing to wear. Family Christian Stores has all of these things plus much more for me and my family.

Are babylegs for you?
Are you old enough to remember leg warmers? Did you ever watch your mom doing step aerobics to VHS tapes of women with feathered hair, wearing leotards and leg warmers? Did you wear them as a fashion statement when shoulder pads and acid washed jeans were still cool? If you can say yes to any of these questions, you were probably born no later than 1980. I was born in the late 70’s and I barely hit the tail end of this awesome fashion trend. I am now a thirty something with children and wonder what embarrassing style my children will remember about me. What would you say if you knew you could dress your kids in leg warmers like you once wore?
Ok, so the holidays are over, now what? Did you do your due diligence by taking a bazillion pictures of your friends, family, crazy relatives or kids? I didn’t take as many as I usually do, but I did get a few really great ones. Now comes the question of what to do with them. I send out a group of pics every month to family and friends that live around the country, but I rarely do anything else with them. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could find a way to display them in an artistic way that doesn’t break the bank?
One of my favorite fall traditions is decorating pumpkins. This would involve a lot of kids around the dining room table, with big knives, and ALOT of mess. How times change. She decided to use plastic face pieces that she purchased at a craft store similar to Joann’s. As a family they still all came to the dining room table and they all chose their parts and items they would like to use for their pumpkins. This is something so simple but gives people the ability to really let their personality show with their pumpkin. If it is a girly rockstar with a mohawk, fake eyelashes and bright lipstick. Or an old grandmother with a scarf, hat and glasses. And for little ones, it gives them the chance to do the decorating by themselves without the worry of getting injured. You are able to get all of these items at places like Joann’s. The possibilities are endless. And the best part, is at the end of Halloween, most of the items you can save and reuse them year to year.
Growing up we never had a lot of money and I was the youngest of seven kids. As you can imagine Halloween time was a hectic time for my mom. It normally ended the same way, rushing from store to store trying to find a costume last minute. This time around I want to do it right. I update coupons for this website, so with Halloween not far away I started looking around. I was impressed at the cost and selection they offered at Costume Discounters. I was able to sort them by price, themes, age groups, and more.

Awesome kid books!
When I was younger I remember reading Zoobooks and falling in love with animals. Their beauty and their living habitats intrigued me. As I have grown, I have come to look back at Zoobooks and love them to this day.
When my husband and I bought our first house we were so excited to decorate it with our own style and flair. Room by room, we went through and re-did every wall color and changed out all the carpets. It took a while because we didn’t have very much money and did it when we could, for as cheap as we could. However, when it was all done, we loved it! We have since sold that house and are now renting, so we don’t have as much freedom, but I’m still on the look out for new decorating ideas.
