Most people like to surf the web to find out what’s going on in the world, take advantage of cool online deals or to kill time. There are a bazillion sites out there to choose from, and undoubtedly, you will find what you’re looking for. Some sites are very predictable and practical for what I need, but every once in a while I find a site that has something that pleasantly surprises me. In the past few days I’ve stumbled upon some of these and I just have to share them.
Besides being a bargain hunter, I am a huge planner. I like to make lists of things I need to do daily, weekly, monthly and yearly, and plan way ahead to make sure I have time to get everything done. Because of this, I arrive early to most places and have back up supplies when needed. Mix this with the bargain hunter side of me and you get someone who plans her purchases way ahead in order to save money. Whenever I need to buy something, I make a mental note of it, the price I’m willing to pay for it and then I wait until I find something that meets these requirements. Sometimes it will take me years to find what I want, and I’m willing to wait. Because I know I can find what I want at my desired price eventually, I will not settle for paying more, just to have it sooner. One of the best ways to do this is buy things at the end of their season when they go on sale to make room for the next season’s items.
I am 5′10″ tall and my husband is 6′2″ tall. I have been this height since I was about 14 years old and the same goes for my husband. We now have a beautiful five year old daughter that is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. We exercise regularly and eat very healthy food, but I am still a plus sized woman and my husband wears XXL in most things. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Are you one of those people who was built a little larger than most of your friends? If so, I have a great new place to find clothes that will fit your style and your budget.
I am a tomboy and have always been a tomboy. Like most tomboys, I am not a fan of wearing lots of makeup, jewelry or uncomfortable shoes like stilettos. If I have to choose between comfort and fashion, I always choose comfort. I have however found some clothes and shoes that fit into both categories. I found a pair of black, knee high boots a few years ago that I absolutely love. They are dressy enough to wear with skirts and dresses, but comfortable enough to wear with jeans. I think every woman needs a good pair of boots that she can wear all throughout the winter season.
I have a problem when it comes to buying shoes and I think some other women might have that same problem. I’m a tall woman and therefore have always had large feet. When I hit my full height at the age of 15 my feet were a size 10. Although I didn’t like having relatively large feet, I was ok with it because most shoes went up to a size 10. Then I had my first child and my feet suddenly grew to a 10.5. My shoes were a little snug, but I could deal with it. After my second child my feet were definitely a size 11 and I could no longer fit into any of my shoes. Ya, it totally sucked. I had to give away all my shoes to my sister and other friends. I quickly found out that once you move past a size 10, it’s much harder to find a good selection of women’s shoes. Since then I’ve been making due with whatever I could find on sale, but within the past week I discovered Zappos.com and things are looking up.
My husband is horrible at surprises. I have to say, I’m not much better but I do try. A few days ago he told me that he found something online I would really like for Mother’s Day. He wanted me to take a look at it and make sure before he ordered it, so I did of course because I was excited to see what he had chosen. He was dead on and I couldn’t wait for them to get delivered to our house. Well, they came today and I love them!
Once upon a time there was this really cool girl who always wanted 2 pairs of sandals that seemed to frivolous to purchase. One was a pair of Dansko sandals! She has had 2 surgeries on her feet and quality shoes are a must. The second pair is some Chaco’s. Now really, who doesn’t want a sandal with great arch support that you actually custom to fit YOUR foot. Very cool!
